I recently purchased a full size dump truck of rocks so I could build zen rock sculptures in my yard. I’ve been lifting weights since I was 12 without a break and sometimes I crave something less structured and more natural. I once lifted some rocks with my friend Karsten Jensen and really liked the feel of them. I finally got around to creating my own rock gym at home and I’m loving it! Moving rocks is a very good way to condition yourself. Here you can see me carrying a juicy rock that probably weighs in at about 130 pounds. Move 20-30 of those babies and you’ll need a big lunch, I assure you!

Here you can see me creating a zen rock sculpture and the other picture is of my most recent rock circle I created. I built two chairs out of stone. The one on the left gets direct sunlight from the setting sun, while the one on the right gets direct light from the morning sun. It is absolutely beautiful to feel how the rocks drink the sunlight in and then slowly bleed it out to the soil and the plants. It’s also very fun to feel how much light energy bleeds from the rocks into my body when I’m tired. I often sit there and watch the sun go down at night and I feel much better after a long day at work with only 20 minutes in my rock chair.

I encourage you to go get some rocks and learn all about balance and functional conditioning. You can have the best, cheapest gym you’ve ever imagined!
