Happy Wednesday to You!

Well, it’s certainly lovely to be home!

As I was conducting my PPS Success Mastery coaching call today, I walked my property here. I found bobcat tracks everywhere I went. I’ve never seen so many bobcat tracks here before.

Just the other day while I was away, Vidya had a beautiful bobcat come visit. It was sitting in the middle of my tai-chi area, serenely overlooking the lake. Last time we saw one, it went there and rested too.

The roadrunner boom is still on here as well. They are such cool birds. It’s amazing to learn all the sounds they make. They often hang out with me while I stack rocks and I get to hear them talk and practice talking to them in their language. They often look at me as if to say, “where the hell are you from with that accent?!” All fun!

I’m feeling very lazy today after a very busy lead-up to Toronto, and a very busy week there teaching, as well as the time zone shifting; I just got adjusted to Toronto and we turned around and headed back to do the adjustment game again…

I think after writing this blog to share with you, I’ll go stack some rocks and let go of the world; how’s that for a paradox! You can never understand GOD, or God until you can be open to paradoxes.

Being stuck on either side of a paradox is blinding; good and evil is a great example. One can’t exist without the other, and energizing “the good” only enlivens “the bad” so-to-speak.

The easy way out is to look for the complementary offering the sides of any paradox offer. In this case, the complementary of good and evil is “choice”.

Weeding a garden is better for your spiritual growth than planting dangerous ideas in your head in Sunday school; one teaches you to believe in life. The other teaches you to believe in stories.

The return on the weeding is food and beauty. The return on most scriptures is fear of your sex organs and constantly trying to figure out what files on your hard drive that God can’t read?

What a shock it will be for so many to find out that God IS the hard drive, and the data, and the weeds, and the story, and the sleep, and the dream, and the nightmare, and the people you don’t like…

Learn to explore paradoxes open-mindedly now, or you will never be able to enjoy loosing your mind; just the thought of death scares the shit out of most people…

where’s the schedule? Where’s the TV Guide? How long will my sentence be? Will this be the end of me? Will I be all alone there?

Individualized Eating: How Much Meat Do I Need?

Meat on cutting board
“How much meat should I eat?” This is definitely one of the most common questions I get on a day-to-day basis, and I get a LOT of questions.

The answer, in my professional opinion, can’t be given by anyone other than yourself. Someone with expertise in the field of diet can certainly tell you how much meat (or anything else) you should or shouldn’t eat, and they do every day.

How’s that working so far?

If you ask a water expert which filtration system you need on your house for the best results, a real water expert will not tell you which filter to buy. They will tell you that they need you to test your water and show them what’s in it. Then, and only then can they make effective decisions as to which filtration system is most capable of removing any of the potentially harmful elements in the water.

Keeping that in mind as a working concept, consider that until you test yourself, you will never know how much, or what types of flesh foods work for you. Worse yet, you can give yourself a disease listening to experts who “tell you WHAT to do” instead of telling you “how to determine what your unique body-mind needs are.”

Tips for Testing your Meat Needs:

Here are several tips for meat proportioning that I have mastered in my own life, and found to be very useful to my clients and students:

Deer
1. Consider that it takes life to support life.

Animal life is much more self-sentient (self-conscious) than plant life in general. As a loose working metaphor, plants are like Mother Earth’s hair, and animals are like her organs, and humans are like nerve centers (many of which are inflamed unfortunately…).

When we eat, we need to replace the death inside us with life. If the food you eat is more dead than you are, you must enliven it to become human in life-form.

We have been in-cultured by capitalist corporations to see food in general the way we see hairbrushes and bars of soap on a store shelf. We don’t know who made such products, what they are made of, or where they came from.

In general, the only thing we really care about is that the product works. If I get clean, I’m happy. If I can comb or brush my hair, the product works, so why think further.

But when you eat the product, the transformation takes time to emerge, and one tends to become habituated in the process.

If you have a light headache after eating commercially farmed meat, or too much meat one day, and it increases in 1% in intensity each day, by the time you seek the help of a physician for your headache, you think your problem is your head, or the ache in it. Y

ou are very unlikely to have made the connection between your perpetual accumulation of proteins and related byproducts (such as toxins, or uric acid).

By choosing to invest in the highest quality, most fresh flesh foods, you are ensuring that there is life to be transformed into yourself.

As we get closer to the animals that feed us, as we all do on a farm, we become more and more aware that they are aware. We tend to become more reverent and respectful of life, eating only what is necessary to both keep healthy, and feel whole looking into the eyes of a deer, a cow, a sheep, etc.

When we realize that what we need to sustain ourselves is an expression of the Great Chain of Being, we at once realize that if the Snake eats more of it’s tail than it can regenerate, it ceases to exist.

Therefore, your first tip has two sides to it:

1. Is there enough life to enhance my life in the flesh I’m about to consider buying and eating? And,

2. How much of this life can I eat without becoming a stupid snake who eats so much his ass becomes his head and he starts thinking like an ass?

2. Challenge diets are very wise and effective.

Most people are simply too weak in their self-discipline to practice being healthy. They just want to be told what to do and have all their perceived problems go away. They spend countless hours in drug stores and doctors offices standing in lines and having tests run, only to be told to take this, take that, eat this, eat that…

Again, how’s that working?

After 30 years teaching people how to exercise, eat, and live, I can assure you that the time and energy investment in developing an intelligent relationship with your body goes miles toward developing both a healthy body, and a stable, clear mind.

I can also tell you that until you understand you well enough to convey “you” and “your experiences” effectively to any medical professional of any type, all they can do is see which box your symptoms fit into best, and apply the standard prescription that goes with that box.

So you see, we are back to water filtration systems again! The difference is that your water walks, talks, and thinks about sex and money a lot. You have to test water because you can’t ask it what’s in it.

But you can enjoy getting to know yourself and learn to know what’s in you, and what your inner-self needs to support your both your inner and outer-self effectively.

A simple, but very effective approach is:

A. Spend one day fasting. Consume only Yogi Fasting Tea, or fresh squeezed carrot or orange juice, or a little raw honey in water; be sure that it isn’t sweet.

Water your juices down so that you can just taste a hint of sweet or your blood sugar will be all over the place and you will think fasting = hell. If you can’t make it through the night without eating, begin B as your evening meal.

As you go through the day, and each day of your testing cycle here described, keep careful notes about how your body and mind feel. What’s better? What, if anything, is worse? Be detailed. This information is essential, as we shall see.

B. Eat only fruits and vegetables for one day. Try to avoid adding any fats or oils when cooking vegetables or your food in general on this day or you won’t know what the effects of fats and oils are.

Not knowing the effects of fats and oils within you often leads to meat eating when what is needed is fats of one kind or another.

To gain the fats and oils you may need, stick to fruits and vegetables that have higher fat content in them; loads of books can help you find them, but avocado is an example of a high fat produce.

Think of what avocado can do to a corn chip…

Pay attention to how you feel with each food, and food combination. Keep notes. You are learning.

C. Continue your B Day fruits and vegetables diet, but now you can try adding some other fat sources, such as:

  • Butter
  • Ghee
  • Coconut oil
  • Lard
  • Beef tallow
  • Duck fat, etc.

Use only the fats, not the flesh itself.

Now, take careful notes on how you feel. Pay careful attention to how you felt the previous days; what’s changed?

What’s changed each step of the way…has your hunger between meals lessened progressively? Do you feel fantastic today, on vegetables and a couple tablespoons of butter?

Are you now questioning weather or not you even need to eat nearly as much meat as before? Probably!

D. Today is meat, fish, or flesh foods only. Prepare the food as whole food. Eat real, healthy flesh foods of organic source on this test day.

Otherwise, you’ll never know if the symptoms you may get are actually the meat, or what is on, or in it.

Write your experiences down. Are you craving sweets, vegetables, fruits?

What’s happening, or not happening in you today, that is different than the previous days? How is your body responding today compared to the other days?

E. Today, create a meal based on what you’ve learned about yourself.

Did you learn on fasting day that you can get by with much less and feel good? Or did you learn that you were hungry all the time and couldn’t feel stable and alert, or something along those lines?

Did you find that you feel more open, alert and connected eating more vegetables? Did you feel good, but craved fat?

Did you find that when you added fat to your vegetables, that what you though was a meat craving went away? This often means you needed more fat than meat at this time in your life.

How much meat do you need?

Start small and work your way up. It’s less wasteful and your mental-emotional awareness is usually better starting with less meat and progressing toward more than vice versa; the other way often starts you out in a state of over-burden, diminishing your test instrument!

If you feel up to it, try another round.

If you need a few days exploring mixed eating before your next round of learning through testing, that’s fine too.

Pay attention to the symptoms your body gives you. You will notice that some or all of them change from day to day in your testing cycle.

You are likely to notice that many symptoms, such as swelling in the body, and around one or more joints, such as the back of a knee get worse when eating too much meat.

Too much meat is often a negative influence on the mind as well. People’s thoughts tend to be constrained, creativity limited, and emotions more compressed – a sense of dread or pressure is not uncommon.

Those with spiritual practices, such as meditation usually notice the negative effects of excess flesh foods right away. Their minds won’t hold still. Their thoughts tend to be darker in nature.

For those who were not eating enough meat because of bad meat experiences, the switch to healthy meat can be a radical improvement in your inner-experience.

For those not eating enough flesh foods to meet their unique genetic needs, eating adequate amounts can have the same beneficial effects as eating less for those eating too much.

Many things can improve, and radically so. And often quickly too.

I’ve seen people that had huge rashes and psoriasis make massive improvements in as little as four days eating correctly. I’ve seen people with conditions that the doctors said would never go away, clear up completely in a few short weeks of eating, and living correctly.

There is much more I could tell you, but not today. Start here first.

Nothing has meaning until you put experience into the mix. Ideas are dangerous to your health, particularly when people are too unhealthy to realize where their illnesses are coming from to begin with.

I hope that settles your questions regarding How Much Meat you Need!

Love and chi,
Paul Chek
