Happy Friday to Everyone!
Well it is very interesting here in the land of the Maya.
Its very third world and it is sad to see that many of the bad habits of the western materialistic culture is being watered here too.
Yesterday, my son Paul Jr and I took a road trip to visit Chichen Itza. I’ve included some pics here for you to see:
Believe it or not, this is some kind of Mayan temple structure. This is what they look like when archeologists find them!
My tour guide explained that when the rubble is redirected, the archeologists are often guided only by their prior beliefs and imagination.
“What we think we know about Mayans or ancient cultures is a lot of guess work…”
There are 90 steps to the top!
And 9 levels up on each side of steps. Everything is mathematically related… Awfully smart for peasant farming people :-)
They built something along the lines of seven miles of foundation to flatten the land and created an excellent foundation for their entire temple complex!
This photo shows the infrastructure below all the structures, and between them.
HA HA! I think I’ll stack some stones today!
Here are a few pics of the carvings telling stories:
Meet chekmool ~ known as the “messenger.”
I miss home and all the joys already!
I’m looking forward to a very lazy day doing some tai chi, reading and resting.
I feel like I’ve been in constant motion for the past 48 hours by the time we navigated our way to Chichen itza and back to our compound last night.
Well, I hope that you have enjoyed my Mayan show and tell today!
I’ll send an update again soon!
Have a great weekend!
Love and chi,
Paul Chek
